Dr. Andrew S. Greene, PhD, Professor and Director, Department of Physiology and Biotechnology and Bioengineering Center, has received a T32 Training Grant from the NHLBI, beginning on 05/01/09. Dr. Michael Kron, MD, MS, Professor, Department of Medicine and Biotechnology and Bioengineering Center, will serve as Clinical Co-Director of this grant. This interdisciplinary, translational postdoctoral PhD and MD training program focuses on inflammation and infection in the development and progression of cardiovascular disease. Mentors contributing to the success of this program are: Dr. Joseph Barbieri, Dr. Daniel Beard, Dr. Mark Beilke, Dr. Jennifer Coburn, Dr. Ranjan Dash, Dr. Michael Dwinell, Dr. Dara Frank, Dr. Mary Beth Graham, Dr. Cheryl Hillery, Dr. Ahmed Kissebah, Dr. Michael Mitchell, Dr. Michael Olivier, Dr. Claudia Olivier, Dr. Kirkwood Pritchard, Dr. Scott Terhune, Dr. Aoy Tomita-Mitchell, Dr. Paula Traktman and Dr. Tetsuro Wakatsuki. This innovative program is housed in the Biotechnology and Bioengineering Center (BBC) because of its central focus on the translation of basic science discoveries and technological innovations to disease and clinical medicine.
