Education Outreach Program

Growing the next generation of scientists

The Biotechnology and Bioengineering Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin focuses on developing outreach partnerships with area schools to educate students, teachers and citizens of the Greater Milwaukee area about the impact of biotechnology and bioengineering on daily life.

Thank you to our 2014 Outreach program sponsors: Agilent, Airgas, and Life Technologies! We appreciate their support.

Training Teachers

Hosting teachers from area schools in our laboratories during an intense summer training session. The Center will support and facilitate teachers learning new scientific techniques and utilizing laboratory equipment to further enhance their scientific understanding.

Building Engineers

Collaborating with students involved in engineering-focused courses, assisting with design and fabrication of biomedical devices.  Participating students will have the opportunity to visit our laboratories and work with our staff.

Mentoring Students

Assisting students with the scientific process to foster their scientific understanding and awareness. Our scientists meet regularly with students to coach them in their research projects.

Developing Curriculum

Workly closely with teachers to develop thematic inquiry-based labs, the Center's education outreach program enriches the curriculum and helps students better understand course content.
